Registered Psychologists

Dr. Sarah Patrick – Owner/ Registered Psychologist

Dr. Patrick, registered with The College of Psychologists of British Columbia, is a clinician trained in Clinical Psychology. She provides treatment and assessment to people of all ages with a variety of concerns. She has focused her training in a number of areas, such as family conflict, trauma, relationship issues, mental health concerns, vocational assessment, and psychoeducational assessment.

Dr. D’Anne Howes – Registered Psychologist

Dr. D’Anne Howes has been a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia since 1998. She has worked in private practice and with organizations such as Health Canada for over 20 years. In her early years, she worked at Orion Health providing intake, assessment and medical/psychological reports, and treatment for client’s suffering from chronic pain. Focal areas included: interdisciplinary case management; individual therapy, biofeedback; mindfulness/relaxation training; pain management; psycho-educational groups; and return to work planning and implementation.

Dr. D’Anne utilizes various different treatment strategies including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Cognitive Processing Therapy and is also trained in EMDR, which is successfully utilized for post-traumatic stress disorder recovery.

Dr. D’Anne has experience working with veterans, first responders and military personnel including RCMP. She also provides psychological treatment for family issues- including effective parenting, teens, adults, and those exploring gender identity and transition.

Dr. D’Anne’s clinical focus has evolved to include a holistic and interdisciplinary focus on treatment, which examines all aspects of a person’s life that play a role in promoting physical and mental wellness. In her clinical practice, she specializes in injury recovery, depression, anxiety, stress/trauma, PTSD, adjustment to parenting, women’s health, marriage counselling, chronic disease/pain management, and geriatric care.

Dr. Sean Butler – Registered Psychologist

Dr. Sean Butler is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of BC. He received his Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from Simon Fraser University and completed his predoctoral residency with Vancouver Coastal Health. He has specialized experience in providing treatment for adults and adolescents with a range of mental health difficulties, including depression, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, emotion regulation problems, and grief and loss.

 
Dr. Butler’s approach to treatment is individualized, collaborative, and evidence-based, drawing upon his clinical training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This means working with people to understand their life history, current concerns, strengths, and goals in treatment. This also means providing therapy that is well-matched to a person’s needs and that has been shown to be effective in treating similar difficulties using high-quality research studies.

Dr. MELANIE OLIVEIRA, PSY.D. – Registered Psychologist

Dr. Oliveira has a Psy.D in Clinical Psychology and is registered with the College of Psychologists of BC. Dr. Oliveira provides psychotherapy, counselling, and psychological assessment. Some areas of interest include gender identity and trauma work.

Jenn Ronald, M.Sc. – Registered Psychologist

Jenn is a Registered Psychologist with a Masters in Science. She provides assessment services to individuals of all ages, with a specific focus in vocational assessments, diagnostic assessments, and psychoeducational assessments. Jenn also offers supervision to those who provide assessment services.

Erin Magee, M.Ed. – Registered Psychologist

Erin Magee is a Registered Psychologist. She received her Masters Degree in Saskatchewan before moving to BC. She provides therapy for folks dealing with a variety of mental health concerns. Erin practices using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, eye movement desensitization and re-processing (EMDR) and solution focused approaches.

Clinical Assessors

Dr. Victor Mak, PSY.D. – Assessment Specialist

Dr. Mak has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He has several years of experience in assessment and therapy, and currently focuses his work on the assessment of adults presenting with a variety of concerns.

Manroop (Roopie) Mann, BA – Assessment Specialist

Roopie is currently working to complete her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She has several years of experience providing assessment to children and adults with a range of concerns, and her internship is focused on support children, youth, and their families.

Laura Hobek, M.Ed. – Assessment Specialist

Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Simon Fraser University, where she also obtained a teaching certificate equipping her with valuable insights into instructional strategies and classroom dynamics. Driven by her desire to make a more significant impact on the lives of students with learning differences, Laura pursued a Master of Education degree in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary. Her professional experience spans several years as a practicing school psychologist in public schools in British Columbia. Throughout her career, she has gained valuable insights into the unique challenges students face in their academic journeys. By conducting thorough assessments and collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals, Laura has helped individuals gain a deeper understanding of their learning strengths, weaknesses, and unique needs.

Maureen Toth, B.ED., M.ED. – Assessment Specialist

Maureen has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Victoria with a major in Special Education and a Masters of Education in School Psychology from the University of Calgary. She specializes in helping people who struggle with cognitive, academic, and social-emotional issues. Maureen has worked with children and families in the public school system for nearly 40 years and is passionate about helping people.

DALE PRETTY, B.ED., M.ED. – ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST

Dale has a Bachelor of Education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He taught Special Education for 10 years prior to obtaining his Master of Education in Applied Child & School Psychology from the University of Calgary. Dale also works as a School Psychologist with over 12 years experience in the BC public school system. Dale is passionate about uncovering the strengths of young people that allows them to reach their full potential.

Registered Clinical Counsellors

Marisa Lawrence, M.A., Registered Clinical Counsellor

Operating from an Attachment-based, Trauma-informed and somatic expression lens, Marisa employs an integrative framework that blends different therapeutic modalities based on individual needs and preferences. She endeavors to help her clients discover the roots of their suffering and develop growth, resilience, and core competencies to overcome past traumas and maladaptive coping mechanisms. She meets her clients where they are, developing a therapeutic relationship based on trust and empathy.

As she holds both a Master’s Degree in Counselling and her 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training, Marisa brings a unique blend of body & mind into her sessions, offering clinical counselling in conjunction with both breathwork and somatic experiencing through yoga and meditation.

Whether your session finds you in deep-dive discussion or wordless on the mat, (sometimes in the same session!) Marisa strives above all to provide her clients a safe, supportive, and compassionate space.

THAIS POUVESLE, MA, Registered Clinical Counsellor

 Thais holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor as well as a Canadian Certified Counsellor. Her experience has primarily focused on working with children, youth and their families. Through her work in various provinces and territories, she has fostered a trauma-informed and culturally appropriate approach in working with a variety of concerns.

Thais integrates an emotion-focused and family systems approach to understand and address family dynamics. While drawing from humanistic and psychodynamic principles, she incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to address present challenges and promote goal-oriented solutions that foster self-awareness and empower clients towards authentic positive change. Her approach is comprehensive, aiming to provide tailored support for each individual’s unique needs.

Victoria Fleming, MA, Registered Clinical Counsellor

Victoria is a Registered Clinical Counsellor offering individual and couples counselling. She has a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and has worked in both public and private sectors. Victoria takes a strengths-based, person-centered approach and is well versed in evidence based therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, and Existential Therapy. Victoria has completed occupational awareness training for therapists working with first responders endorsed by the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters Association, as well as trauma informed practice training with the Canadian Police Knowledge Network.

Pedorthist

Frankie Gniwodda, Pedorthist

Frankie is a Canadian-certified pedorthist, specializing in custom foot orthotics, compression stockings, and bracing. Originally from Chilliwack, B.C., Frankie completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of the Fraser Valley. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued postgraduate education at the University of Western Ontario, where she earned distinction in her graduate program in lower limb orthopaedics. Passionate about health and wellness, Frankie is committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of her patients.

Administration

Cathy Gniwodda – Administrative Assistant

Cathy is the first person you meet when entering the office. She will help in any way she can to make your experience here comfortable. Her extensive work in the medical field for many years allows her to connect to people in need and treat everyone with respect and understanding.

Individuals with appropriate training to complete assessments but who are not a Registered Psychologist, are supervised by a Registered Psychologist. As a result, you will benefit from the expertise and training of both your clinician and their supervisor.  The supervisory details will be discussed with you during the consent process.
